What is Subluxation ?

Subluxation comes from the latin words meaning "to dislocate" (luxare) and "somewhat or slightly" (sub). It means a slight dislocation or malfunctioning of the bones in the spine. This could cause disturbances which may irritate nerve roots and blood vessels and may cause pain and dysfunction in muscle, lymphatic and organ tissue as well as imbalance in the normal body processes.

A fall, injury, sudden jar, trauma or inherited spinal weaknesses can displace a vertebra. Improper sleeping conditions, poor posture, incorrect lifting, obesity, lack of rest and excersise, and stress are other reasons for subluxation.

How is subluxation corrected ?

Your chiropractor �will use his or her hands in applying corrective pressure to the spine in a specific direction or location.
